Welcome to Smeeny Made Wild
I’ve been keeping this a secret for a while, but Smeeny Beanie Knits is rebranding!
Say “hello” to
Smeeny Made Wild
This may not seem like a huge change or a big deal, but I can't tell you how excited I am!
After 5 years of running Smeeny Beanie Knits, I felt like I'd outgrown the original name and my DIY branding and felt like it was time to invest in up-leveling the biz. I now have a much clearer idea of who I am as a brand and business and needed to give things a refresh. This spring, I hired an amazing brand designer, Abby Leighton Studio, to help create a whole new logo suite and brand kit for my business.
Since late May, I've been working hard behind-the-scenes to redesign all of my packaging materials, overhaul my website, and migrate my entire email list to a new service provider. I'll be changing my handle over on Instagram soon and rolling out the new website in the next month or so.
Handmade Knits and Knitting Patterns
The ethically and sustainably sourced cozy handmade knit beanies aren't going anywhere! Smeeny Beanie Knits was built on being a knitting business and the knitting is still going to be a main focus in Smeeny Made Wild.
Knitting patterns and the knitting and maker community are still very important to me, and I plan on continuing to bring you thoughtfully designed, simple patterns that are fun to knit for any level of knitter!
1% for the Planet
My business partnership with 1% for the Planet and giving back to environmental nonprofits will remain a cornerstone of Smeeny Made Wild. Protecting our planet, its people, and using my platform as a voice for environmental justice and human rights is part of that.
When you make a purchase from Smeeny Made Wild, know that your dollars are still supporting Protect Our Planet, the National Park Foundation, and other non-profit organizations fighting for LGBTQIA+ rights, women's rights, and racial equality as they intersect with environmental justice and outdoor inclusion.
Adventure Goods
You may have already noticed some things that have been added to the shop over the course of the last year. The stickers, trucker hats, tote bags, and notebooks are all things that I use extensively and I wanted to be able to more seamlessly incorporate these types of items in to the shop. I've been collaborating with other small artists and makers to bring more intentionally curated outdoorsy adventure mountain goods to the shop!
Resources and Guides
As I've walked this small business path, I've realized that there is so much more that I'd like to share! Creating inclusivity in the outdoors has become more and more important to me and I want to share more useful information for getting outside. I'm still working on these resources, but I'm planning some things in the form of guides, blog posts, and videos! This also means I'll be incorporating more outdoorsy lifestyle content into what I share that may or may not also include knitting!
If you're a fellow maker, building a strong community of likeminded artists and makers has been a huge part of my success. I want to share more resources, tips, and advice for makers starting out on their business journey in the form of guides, workbooks, and blog posts as well as videos on YouTube!
