SUSTAINABILITY & GIVING BACK

More than a brand…a voice for what matters.

At Smeeny Made Wild, creating positive change is part of everything decision I make. Every purchase, whether it’s a cozy knit, a creative retreat, or a business resource supports more than just your journey. Through my 1% for the Planet commitment and donations to justice-centered organizations, we’re building something that protects the planet and it’s people. I truly believe that business can (and should) be a force for good.

SUSTAINABILITY

Create positive change

In a world that’s increasingly conscious of its environmental and social impact, running an ethical and sustainable business isn’t just a choice—it’s a responsibility. I believe that every decision carries weight and prioritizing sustainability and ethical practices not only protects the planet and supports fair labor, but also ensures that my customers can feel good about what they wear and where they wander. It’s always been more than about the knitting. In everything I create, my top priority is that it should never come at the cost of people or the planet.

ETHICALLY & SUSTAINABLY SOURCED

Committed to only using only ethically and sustainably sourced yarns. These are small companies with shared sustainability values that I source directly from. They are committed to ethical practices when raising their sheep and also provide safe working environments for women in Peru and Uruguay. Their dyeing process also minimizes water usage and only uses Oeko-tex certified biodegradable dyes.

CONSCIOUS PACKAGING

Shipping in minimal, plastic-free packaging that is made of 100% post consumer recycled and recyclable packaging. Recyclable packaging tape made from sustainable acid free inks.

ZERO WASTE

Zero waste, full circle yarn. All usable yarn scraps are repurposed to the Zero waste scrappy beanie product line. Any unusable scraps I work with a local small business to turn them into compostable wool pellets for gardening.

GIVING BACK

Connecting with the outdoors

Whether I’m crafting hats by hand or designing unforgettable journeys, giving back is very important to me. I believe that success means little if it doesn't also uplift others. That’s why I’m committed to supporting the communities, artisans, and environments that inspire my work. Whether it’s through donating a portion of profits, partnering with local organizations, or creating opportunities for others to thrive, giving back allows my business to be a force for good. It’s about creating beauty and adventure while making a positive impact along the way.

NON-PROFIT DONATIONS

I additionally support other non-profit organizations fighting for protecting our planet and public lands, women’s reproductive freedom, LGBTQIA+ rights, and racial justice as they intersect with the outdoors, totaling over $8500 since 2017!
